I thought I might have lost you

Simon was in his bathroom. Washing his hands. He had a large bloodstain on his jacket. He mumbled something to himself about ‘washing it later’ and turned off the sink. As the faucet turned off he heard the sound of his apartment door closing. Alarmed he grabbed the knife sitting next to the sink and stepped towards the door. Cautiously. As he turned the corner he saw a silhouette, lifting the knife higher he bared his teeth slightly.

“Who are you and what do you want with me!” He spat. The silhouette leaned over to the light switch and flicked it on. Illuminating them both. Standing in the door was CJ a small bag slipping off his shoulders.

“Simon?” He said, cautiously. Simon’s eyes softened almost instantly and he brought the knife down.

“Jeez you startled me CJ.” He said. CJ’s eyes we’re still wide with horror.

“Simon, what’s with the blood on your jacket?” He asked. Simon looked down and saw the large stain on his chest. It sure as hell wasn’t his own blood, but the true answer would give away his identity.

“I cut myself while cooking, and I happened to be wearing this jacket so it was the best thing to stop the bleeding.” He lied. CJ let out the breath he had been holding in. Quickly running over to Simon and pulling him into a hug.

“I’m sorry I just got worried, you told me you we’re heading out and...well you know the kind of people who are out there, I thought you may have been hurt….seriously.” Simon was surprised by the tight hug. His arms hanging limp by his own side.

“Don’t ever do that again, I was so worried about you.” CJ Said, tears rimming his eyes slightly.

“I….” Simon started, don’t know what to say he finished in his mind. He never realized someone could care for him so much. He didn’t think anyone ever would. Closing his eyes slightly he wrapped his arms back around CJ and leaned into him a little bit.  “I, promise.” He returned the tight hug he was being given.
